No matter what stage of business you are in, when it comes to marketing your business building your list is always a big key. Like any part of Internet marketing list building techniques are constantly changing.
A client of mine asked me the other day if it’s better to have quality or quantity when it comes to your list. Ideally, both would be great! The reality is that sales is a numbers game and the more people you have on your list, the more likely you are to increase those sales. That being said, I believe that having 200 people who are very interested in your products, services and information is much better than having 2,000 who have no interest whatsoever. Bottom line, I say build for both quality and quantity. (I know, easier said than done, right?)
To help you balance quality and quantity, here are 10 tips to help you
1) Joint Ventures. Many coaches shy away from joint ventures out of concern that their list or following is too small and they don’t have anything to offer potential partners. Try thinking outside of the box for other things you can offer them, such as guest blogging on their site and allowing them to do the same on yours or offering to give them a testimonial about a product or service of theirs that you have tried.
2) Step up the offering on your website. Newsletters typically are not enough to get someone to sign up. Offer something bigger like an ebook, an ecourse, audio+forms, or an assessment.
3) Try adding a squeeze page to your site. This is a strong tool for list building. Just be sure to include a link that allows visitors to bypass the squeeze page and go directly to your site. Otherwise they will become frustrated and likely click away from your site altogether.
4) Add audio or video. By adding audio or video to your site welcoming visitors you make a connection with them, helping to build that know, like, trust factor. This will encourage their interest in you and what you have to offer them.
5) Put sign up box above the fold on EVERY page! Many people add it only to the first page of their site, but you may miss an opportunity to reach them on your blog page or elsewhere on your site.
6) Add redirect info on all communications like Twitter page, signature box, author’s box to direct people to your website or squeeze page.
7) Add your sign up box to your blog and Facebook Fan Page.
When speaking, break part way through and have audience complete a sign up form (paper and pen) so they will receive a special gift free, plus a bonus of your newsletter.
9) Add share links to newsletters so people can forward/broadcast for your, increasing interest among their followers.
10) Post comments on high-traffic blogs and sites that your nice market is visiting.
